The global market in the area of thermal spraying is growing by 7% p.a. At the same time, the hard coatings obtained by thermal spraying are required to be ever more durable, have better dry-running capabilities, and adhere to closer tolerances. Such requirements are in the main driven by the automotive industry.

HeBoFill® broadens the range of applications for thermal spray coatings

We are developing new concepts which incorporate HeBoFill® Boron Nitride within coatings generated through thermal spraying. Boron Nitride acts as high-temperature solid lubricant that significantly improves their wear resistance and dry-running capabilities. Boron Nitride can be easily incorporated into a variety of hard matrix materials – tungsten carbide, zirconium oxide, etc. – and into metal matrices such as nickel, aluminium or copper. Such hybrid coatings can be applied by thermal spraying, plasma spraying or other spraying processes.
